The Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) puts a stop to real estate development on the site of the former golf course
The incredible mobilization of the citizens of Rosemère around the protection of the former golf site is bearing fruit!
On June 16, the CMM adopted a Règlement de contrôle intérimaire (RCI) imposing a "moratorium" on the development of six former golf courses, INCLUDING the one in Rosemère. It is thus taking the necessary steps to accelerate the protection and development of these green spaces. The effect of this RCI is to prohibit any construction, work or activity on the six former golf courses. Consequently, no development will be allowed on the portion of the former golf course site that is zoned "regional recreational".
The RCI will come into effect upon approval by the ministre des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation, within a maximum of 60 days, and will remain in effect until the content of the future CMM Plan métropolitain d'aménagement et de développement is incorporated into municipal bylaws.
This "moratorium" is not a final victory for the protection of the last large green space to be protected in Rosemère, but it is of crucial importance. It shows that we are moving in the right direction and that all the mobilizations of the last few years are bearing fruit, especially with the Ville de Rosemère, which is increasingly listening to our desire to protect the site for the betterment of our health and the environment!
To highlight this excellent news, we invite you to celebrate with us at Charbonneau Park in Rosemère on Saturday, June 18, starting at 5 p.m. Signs from Rosemère Vert will be visible to show you where citizen volunteers are located in the park.
We will also take the opportunity to encourage the merchants of the Marché Nocturne organized by the City of Rosemère.
